Welcome to Scotts Valley!

Scotts Valley is named after businessman Hiram Scott, a Maine native who settled in Santa Cruz and bought Rancho San Agustin from rancher Joseph Ladd Majors in 1850. Incorporated in 1966, the city is partly situated on Scott's ranch site. It is surrounded by hills and redwoods and is located close to the beach.

Scotts Valley's most famous resident was legendary film director Alfred Hitchcock. The Master of Suspense and his family lived in a mountaintop estate in the Vine Hill area from 1940 to 1972.
